NOTE ON ASSEMBLY OF THE FOUR POSTER
The four poster is a very slender design, with narrow posts, which is its style, and the canopy is separate to the bed base and comes as individual posts which are bolted together.
The upper canopy posts are connected to the base only at the narrow base of the four posts by a screw fit. If the upper canopy is deliberately rocked vigorously from side to side, then there is bound to be movement in the upper canopy because of its slender design , but not in the bed itself, which is very solid. This is part of the design of the bed and not a defect: the upper canopy is decorative only and does not move during use of the bed, only if deliberately ‘swung’.
We recommend that a handyman carpenter be employed directly by the customer to erect this bed, so that additional wood glue could be added to bed in the screws connecting the four posts to the base, and any minor adjustments made to the post screws on site. This will give more solidity of that fixing,This is a simple further adaptation which some customers have found helpful.
